The NoLevy244.org site was created to let our local community become aware of issues facing our upcoming school district levy. Casey Smith, who was until recently on the district school board is an insider that knows what is really going on and where a lot of the problems lie.

Casey founded this site for the purposes stated above.

Here are some basic facts Casey want’s you to know about:

Mr. Casey Smith are you even a property owner in Idaho County? A search of the Idaho County GIS Parcel Map for your name comes up empty.

Please do explain how you arrived at over half the levy amount going to fund dependent healthcare? Didn’t dependent healthcare get cut completely when you were on the board?

Dependent Healthcare was voted down unanimously by the board in August of 2020, of which Casey was his zone’s rep.

There is no dependent healthcare which means zero $0 will go towards dependent healthcare. You can find this information on the school district website under: Documents, CIEA/Union, Negotiated Agreements.

This comment shows that there are those that support the levy who simply can’t even govern their own speech.
The purpose of public education is not to get our children employed in a good job.
It is not to keep children out of trouble so mom and dad can work to pay their taxes.
It is not to teach children about sex, political fads, drugs, or confusion in math.
It is to inculcate a moral populace that is capable of governing themselves and to hopefully apply those morals to collective issues so that the nation as a whole can also govern themselves.
People with attitudes like this poster are the kind of people that spawn groups like Antifa and BLM – violent groups that destroy private property and have no respect for the rights and property of others.
People like this are what force government to get more powerful and destory our freedom.
If this person is a teacher or board member, well you can see why the voters are failing levys.

This comment about Casey Smith highlights what I’ve been saying for months, people don’t care about the entire community, only one sided… There are more than kids in this community, there are elderly folks on fixed incomes. The school should not be the God of our community and kids should have any more importance than anyone else in the community. The founders of this great nation understood we are ALL created equal. Just because the community has not gone to Boise and dealt with the Legislature for their lack of funding the schools constitutionally, doesn’t mean those who own property should have a lien put on their property… When those who don’t own property can vote to place that burden on those who do, we have “taxation without representation”. The Levy is an Unfair tax that no one can deny…If they want to raise sales tax, that would be fair…everyone pays sales tax…

I have been doing much research and asking the questions and seeing the states requirements and what’s allowed by the district. There isn’t anything that I can find to support the statements made up above. You must have something to enlighten me to support the statements. Please email them right away or post them right away so more like myself can see and address this sooner then later. This is not what has been talked about written about or documented at least to many in the communities knowledge. This is pertinent information and should be shown immediately to be properly informed on making a very important decision! Thank you!

I am also interested to see verified sources for these claims. These are lies. Why are the facts “coming,” even if the website was only created days ago? Why not tell the truth right out of the gate?

Dependent insurance was cut in 2020, when Casey Smith was on the school board.

Here is a link to the most recent negotiated agreement. See page 15.

Please refer to page 15 of the attached link. This is the negotiated agreement for the MVSD. It clearly states that “dependent coverage is available at employee expense through payroll deduction”. Not one cent of school district funds pay for dependent health insurance. https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/2573/sd244/3383362/23-24_Signed_Negotiated_Agreement.pdf

People will abandon our area.. My husband and myself were born and raised here and this is where we want to raise our children. However if we can’t pass the levy that our district desperately needs then we will have no choice but to sell out and move so that our children can have a good education and their childhood experiences they deserve to have.

Casey – Katrena Hauger here giving my input on your “facts” listed above:

    • The levy has nothing to do with local control – It absolutely does as it is discretionary funds available to the district other than those from the State to allocate to areas that are not fully funded/not funded at all by the State, allowing district control of those funds based on public education State funding guidelines.
    • If it fails, people will not abandon our area. This is a potential reality (and has occurred recently) as patrons may choose to leave the area for a school district elsewhere in Idaho/other states, that offers more than the basic education the State currently funds/that MVSD offers. I personally know of families who have left due to the current state of the district. Current employees (and past, myself included) may also make changes to leave the district. To state that “people will not abandon our area” is you OPINION!
    • Out of $5.8M for the levy, $3.4M will go to dependent healthcare. Dependent Healthcare was dropped by the board August 17th, 2020 – you can find this in the board meeting minutes and you also voted for this! At its highest, dependent Healthcare was an initial cost of $800k to the district, of which 30% was paid by the employee who used it for their dependents (I know this from years of negotiating) Here is the link for the Master Agreement where it is stated on pg. 15 that “dependent healthcare is available at employee expense via payroll deduction”.  https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/2573/sd244/3383362/23-24_Signed_Negotiated_Agreement.pdf?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR13vjrBRAfOwNrfWe8gS9XDtAYUXEvVtwZ_w5r6cbxmWd_d0drK1s44ACg_aem_ATrBqsSddGsLMs4oQ16UdByH7CaCktLgYmAj9g-B2pKuKKnSnxfCOzFRuk7M6PUsVTuSKHOYH6yi6gyIKFKV04rK It has not been brought back since nor is it currently an option should the levy pass-it is not stated nor was it voted on by the current board to be included in the levy vote this May. Show us where in the board meeting minutes was this discussed/voted on and passed!
